The Cwlwm partnership (Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs, Coram PACEY Cymru, Early Years Wales, Mudiad Meithrin, National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA Cymru), the Centre for Alternative Technology, and Small Woods Wales are very pleased to announce that they have received funding from the National Lottery’s Meithrin Natur fund. It is a substantial boost that will support our continuous efforts to support practitioners and families in the early years, by connecting people with the natural world and improve the local environment.

The funding will enable all partners to begin on the work of expanding its activities and introducing effective projects to encourage community involvement, and foster a deeper appreciation of the natural world, from a young age. Through this support, partners will consider what support is needed by families and practitioners in the early years (0-5 years) to be able to access nature.

The National Lottery’s Meithrin Natur community fund is committed to helping communities across Wales act for nature and build a more sustainable future.

Dr Catrin Mair Edwards, Mudiad Meithrin’s Chief Executive and Chair of Cwlwm, said:

“We are delighted that we are receiving this funding from the Meithrin Natur Fund. It acknowledges the importance of our work and will enable us to make a real difference to how the youngest children’s involvement with nature in their communities. Thanks to National Lottery players we can now expand our efforts and have a positive impact on the young children of Wales.”

This funding comes at a vital time, as communities attempt to reconnect with nature and take meaningful steps to protect the local environment. If successful, the full project will offer opportunities to children aged 0-5 years old and their families and carers, to participate, learn new skills and contribute to the local environmental well-being.

Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs, Coram PACEY Cymru, Early Years Wales, Mudiad Meithrin, National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA Cymru)), the Centre for Alternative Technology, and Small Woods Wales extend their sincere thanks to the National Lottery and all its players for making this work possible.
