Mudiad Meithrin welcomes today’s announcement of the Welsh Government’s Programme for Government 2026-2030, which includes a commitment to provide a new universal Childcare Offer for children aged between 9 months and 4 years.
This commitment from the Government reflects and reinforces Mudiad Meithrin’s call in our Manifesto for universal childcare provision for every child from the age of nine months onwards.
Responding to the new programme, Dr Catrin Edwards, Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin, said:
“The commitment to the new Childcare Offer and to expanding Welsh-medium provision is an important step forward for children and families across Wales.
As a member of the Expert Steering Group, I look forward to playing my part in this important work, as it aligns with the aspirations and manifesto of Mudiad Meithrin to extend the Childcare Offer to children from 9 months of age onwards. This is a unique opportunity to build a fairer and more inclusive system that makes Welsh a natural part of every child’s life from the very beginning.”
