Reasonable Adjustments in Nursery Settings: Supporting Children with Visual Impairments

With Guide Dogs Cymru

Suitable for: Staff of Cylchoedd Meithrin/ Day Nurseries/ committee members and volunteers

Guide Dogs Cymru have produced Guidance on Reasonable Adjustments under the Equality Act 2010 which are designed to support teachers to meet the needs of children with a vision impairment in the school environment. Many of these tips can be adapted to suit children in the early years.

In this interactive training, Cath Lewis, Policy and Campaigns Manager and Branwen Jones, Skills, Information & Support Services Manager for Wales will share these tips.

Branwen will also talk about the ‘My Time to Play’ sessions which her team organise. These are aimed at children aged 0-4 with a vision impairment and their parents, carers and siblings. The sessions are delivered by Qualified Habilitation Specialists and help children with a vision impairment develop a broad range of skills through play. Branwen will also share skills which you will then be able to develop in your setting.

Session delivered in English.
