As an organisation passionate about giving every child the opportunity to play, learn and grow in Welsh, Mudiad Meithrin is pleased to be able to present Welsh-medium books and resources to children’s wards in two hospitals on the Welsh border in Shropshire.

The presentation took place in the Schoolroom at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford on Tuesday 19th September 2023.

Tracey Caldicott, Hospital Educational Coordinator at Princess Royal Hospital, Telford said:

“Our intake of patients means we regularly have children from Powys admitted who speak Welsh and who attend Welsh-medium schools, so this package of books for early years children in the Welsh language is very welcome.”

Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Mudiad Meithrin CEO said:

“Children in Wales – like my 7-year old son who recently spent almost a month in the hospital in Telford – regularly access hospital services in England. It is imperative that Mudiad Meithrin works in partnership with organisations such as the NHS across various policy areas. We are therefore delighted to provide Welsh-medium resources for the ward knowing that children and families will take comfort from these books”.

Mudiad Meithrin also donated a pack of books to the Alice Ward At the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) in Gobowen. Helen Portman, the Hospital Educational Coordinator on Alice Ward, was also be present on Tuesday to receive the pack of resources.
