Putting the spotlight on early years career opportunities

With early years education and childcare facing a recruitment crisis, Mudiad Meithrin is keen to highlight the worthwhile careers available in the sector. This is what lies behind a week dedicated to promote Mudiad Meithrin’s childcare training programmes and the valuable experiences that come from working alongside young children.

During the week there will be a live streaming event focusing on childcare apprenticeships and a series of short films will be released to give an insight into the work of practitioners in Cylchoedd Meithrin and day nurseries across Wales.

Helen Williams is Head of Training, Learning and Development at Mudiad Meithrin, she said: “We are looking forwards to creating a buzz during this special week to showcase the huge variety of roles within this sector and the job satisfaction that working with young children can bring.

“Our own Cylchoedd Meithrin and day nurseries in general have been struggling to attract and retain staff for many years. We want to show, that this field can be right for anyone with an interest in infant and child development. There are unique opportunities to help shape the next generation and to introduce the Welsh language at an early age.

“Through our programmes, people receive training of the highest standard through the medium of Welsh – courses that can lead to further education and university degrees. They can also lead straight to work that is both fulfilling and offers flexibility, in all parts of Wales.”

Helen is keen to encourage anyone with an interest in the field to join the conversation on social media during Childcare Week to learn and get a taste of what’s on offer in terms of training and employment opportunites.

The week’s activity will be shared on all of Mudiad Meithrin’s social media channels.
