As an organisation that wants to give young children the best start in life we will do everything within our means to deliver the gold standard in early years experiences to the children in our care. Our work greatly influences children for the rest of their lives, and this is something we take very seriously, delivering rich, effective and informative learning and play experiences.

As a national organisation recognised as ‘the early years specialists’ throughout Wales and beyond, ensuring a qualified workforce to work in the early years has been one of Mudiad Meithrin’s strategic priorities since its inception.  The Cam wrth Gam National Training Scheme is one of the schemes developed twenty years ago, and this year we will celebrate an important milestone as the scheme reaches its twentieth birthday. Since it began in 2004 over 4,000 people have gained a recognised early years qualification through the scheme, contributing to the creation of a qualified workforce to work in the Cylchoedd Meithrin and day nurseries across Wales.

To undertake the scheme, students must be employed in a suitable setting; for example, a Cylch Meithrin, Welsh-medium day nursery or Welsh-medium primary school. Students on the course learn through day to day experience with young children, and support from Mudiad Meithrin’s specialist staff.

The experienced, supportive and friendly team of tutors and assessors are there to support students and settings throughout the learning journey.

Helen Williams, Mudiad Meithrin’s Head of Training, Learning and Development Team said:

“This scheme is vitally important to ensure a sufficient and consistent number of people working within the Welsh-medium childcare and early years sector.  The expertise of our team means that we as an organisation can deliver everything related to the qualification. We create original resources to support learning, hold frequent practical workshops and provide language support to those who want to achieve proficiency – and learners also benefit from Mudiad Meithrin’s Academi training, which contributes to their continuous professional development.”

“The quality of delivery is high, with the Mudiad possessing direct claims status for certain elements of the qualifications – this means that we have received exceptional external verification reports.”

Every year the Cam wrth Gam Awards Ceremony celebrates and rewards the success and hard work of Cam wrth Gam students in their settings when following and completing their Level 3 courses in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development, or Level 5 in Leadership and Management of Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development.
