Good news for Dewin and Doti fans! After two years of digital shows in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mudiad Meithrin is delighted to announce that Gŵyl Dewin a Doti will return in its traditional form this year and will tour Wales for three weeks from 13 June to 1 July 2022 .
To celebrate the good news, children from Denbighshire and the surrounding area’s Cylchoedd Meithrin will be holding a parade at the Urdd’s National Eisteddfod at 10.30 on Saturday 4 June, and it will finish on one of the main stages where popular children’s entertainer Siani Sionc will be giving preview of the show.
This year’s theme is ‘Keeping Fit’ and Siani Sionc will lead the Tour – with the help of Dewin and Doti of course! Siani Sionc came to prominence after winning the Meithrin Talent competition held jointly by Mudiad Meithrin and Urdd Gobaith Cymru at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Cardiff in 2019.
The show will be held across Wales visiting Barry Island, Llysyfran, Carmarthen, Llanrhystud, Welshpool, Wrexham, Llandudno, Bala, Anglesey and Caernarfon.
Sian Elin Williams, who plays the Siani Sionc character, said:
“I was lucky enough to win the ‘Meithrin Talent’ competition in 2019 and since then I’ve been able to create Siani Sionc and have had many experiences. I’ve been able to tour a large number of nurseries and schools across Wales, and have also had great experiences such as leading a singing and dancing series and creating a DVD for Mudiad called ‘Dawnsio gyda Dewin a Siani Sionc (Dancing with Dewin and Siani Sionc).”
Iola Jones, Mudiad Meithrin’s Head of Marketing and Partnerships said:
“The Dewin and Doti Festival Tour is now an important part of the Cylch Meithrin’s calendar of events and is a great way to bring the Welsh language to life, especially for families where Welsh is not spoken in the home. We are very pleased to be able to go back on tour throughout Wales.”
The first Dewin and Doti Festival show takes place on Monday, 13 June in Barry Island.
