Mudiad Meithrin plans to organise several activities to support Wales’ Football Team at the World Cup in November following the announcement that they have been awarded a grant from the World Cup Partner Support Fund.
Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin, said:
“Children in the early years are often overlooked in major national campaigns without seeing the potential for them to participate and enjoy the activities with a far-reaching impact on their well-being. We are passionate about providing these opportunities to the young children who receive their care and early education in our diverse settings, and look forward to the opportunity of collaborating with new partners.“
One of these events will be Disg-goch Pob Lwc Cymru (Good Luck Wales Red-Disco) will be part of the Mudiad’s Dawnsathon (Danceathon) week which is a fundraising campaign for Cylchoedd Meithrin and Day Nurseries.
Disg-goch Pob Lwc Cymru will take place on 16 November – a week before the World Cup – where Welsh youngsters will be encouraged to wear red on the day and dance in the Disg-goch in the Cylchoedd Meithrin across Wales.
In addition to this a FIFA World Cup 2022 themed activity pack will be created and shared amongst the Mudiad’s 1,000 groups. This pack will include a book about Dewin a Doti (Mudiad Meithrin’s lovable characters) attending a football match, a special song by Siani Sionc, posters supporting Welsh football, and a World Cup-themed session at one of the Clwb Cwtsh Welsh language learning sessions in collaboration with the National Centre for Learning Welsh.
Gwenllian added:
“This special project will promote Wales highlighting our values and ensuring a positive and lasting legacy in the minds of the young children who will be taking part. We will all remember the legacy and impact of fun activities from our childhood and Wales’ totemic nature at the World Cup will mean creating important memories.”
