As an organisation that is passionate about giving every child the opportunity to play, learn and grow through the medium of Welsh, Mudiad Meithrin is proud to announce that this year’s annual fundraising campaign for the Cylchoedd Meithrin will be “Cylchoedd yn Cerdded”.
With less than a month to go, this campaign has been created to help the cylchoedd management committees to run an easy and fun fundraising activity for their childcare settings. The campaign invites all members and everyone involved in the Mudiad Meithrin community and the local communities across Wales to run sponsored walks as a fun way to raise money to support the cylchoedd/day nurseries and Welsh-medium early years education. Walking is a simple, free exercise suitable for all ages – a great way to get the families to get involved at to socialise enjoy the fresh air, and promote the important message that a healthy body is the foundation of a healthy mind.
How to get involved:
Cylchoedd and nurseries are encouraged to adapt the campaign to suit their location and communities.
Suggestions include:
· Set a daily walking challenge for staff and children in the cylch/nursery
· Organise a sponsored walk during the Cylch Ti a Fi/Cylch Meithrin or nursery time.
· Mapping out a local route to encourage the wider community to get involved.
· Invite local ‘celebrities’ or friends of the cylch/meithrinfa to run a sponsored walking challenge.
The campaign offers a simple, effective, and safe way to raise money—and every penny contributes to strengthening early years education opportunities through the medium of Welsh.
Jamie Bevan is an amazing example of how one person wants to make a special trip to raise money for the local Cylch Meithrin.
Jamie Bevan from Merthyr Tydfil is going the extra mile, or 3,000 extra miles to be precise, by starting a 3,000 mile journey from Merthyr Tydfil to Istanbul in aid of Cylch Meithrin y Gurnos. Jamie will embark on his adventurous journey on 7 April and travel through 11 countries over four to five months, camping in some of Europe’s wildest and most remote landscapes.
As a Welsh tutor and avid linguist, Jamie sees the trip as an opportunity to immerse himself in the languages and cultures of the countries he will pass through and is keen to share stories about Wales and the Welsh language with the communities he will meet.
This challenge stems from its commitment to supporting its local Cylch Meithrin, which provides vital early years opportunities for children in one of Merthyr’s most deprived areas.
Jamie said:
At Cylch Meithrin Y Gurnos, children have a real opportunity to thrive. They are introduced to the Welsh language from the very beginning, helping to keep the language alive for future generations, not only in schools, but in homes, communities and everyday life. Every pound raised through this walk will go directly to Cylch Meithrin y Gurnos.”
Jamie is hoping to raise a lot of money along his journey towards the Cylch Meithrin and you can donate here — https://tinyurl.com/mnwj7zu6
