Suitable for Mudiad Meithrin members: Trainee nursery assistants • Nursery assistants • Nursery room leaders • Assistant managers • Playworkers • Drivers • Volunteers (depending on level of supervision)
This course aligns with the requirements of the National Minimum Standards for Group B individuals.
This is an intermediate-level course aimed at those that already have some knowledge of child safeguarding but need to learn more about the safeguarding processes that need to be followed when concerns arise regarding the welfare of young children.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Understand your role to protect children from harm, abuse and neglect
- Understand how children are protected from harm, abuse and neglect
- Identify different types of abuse, harm and neglect including domestic violence
- Learn about legislation and procedures for safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and know the recent changes to safeguarding as a result of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014
- Understand the long-term impact of abuse on children
- Consider lessons learned from real-life cases, where abuse has occurred in childcare settings.
Course delivered in Welsh *with simultaneous translation available.
