As an organisation passionate about giving the best educational start to all the children in Wales, and taking every opportunity to celebrate our Welshness, the Mudiad is very proud of the football pack that has been created and sent out to all the children and their families in our care.

At the end of October a video of a song that was specially composed by Siani Sionc was released – Pob Lwc Cymru (Good Luck Cymru!) to wish the team well, along with a video of her reading a special edition of the book Dewin a Doti yn y Gêm Bel-droed fawr (Dewin and Doti Helping in the Big Game). 200 copies of this book were also sent to the Welsh Book Council for distribution to libraries and food banks across Wales.

We sent out a special resource pack to all our members in early November which included a Football Activity Pack, a sheet of stickers, a Pob Lwc Cymru poster! and a copy of the book Dewin a Doti’n helpu yn y gêm fawr. All of these resources can be viewed and downloaded on a special page compiled on our website https://meithrin.cymru/pel-droed/?lang=en

We have also partnered with the National Centre for Learning Welsh and the Football Association of Wales to share these resources on their Welsh for families materials page on the website which can be found here Red Wall | Learn Welsh and Clwb Cwtsh will be holding special sessions including free football vocabulary for people who want to learn Welsh.

One of the events held at our Cymraeg for Kids sessions, Cylchoedd Ti a Fi, Cylch Meithrin and Day Nurseries was the Dis-Goch to wish Team Wales the best of luck. It was held on the 16 November where everyone organised a disco wore red clothing. This was part of Mudiad’s Dawnsathon week which is a fundraising campaign for the Cylchoedd Meithrin by organising dance activities, and a specially produced list of songs was compiled by BBC Radio Cymru ready for the disco.

Over 700 children and adults took part in the Dis-Goch and Dewin – our beloved character – joined in the celebration as well as the Mudiad’s national team of staff.

Dewin will select winners who have sent photos and the numbers of people who took part in the Dis-Goch to arrange a special visit as part of its first ever Christmas Tour (details to be released soon on our digital platforms).

So Good Luck Wales from all the young children of Mudiad Meithrin!
